The Government has extended the scope of the assistance programme for the digitalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), known as Kit Digital, through a ministerial order recently published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
This update to the programme makes it possible to include medium-sized companies with up to 250 employees, thus widening the range of beneficiaries. Two new eligibility segments have been established: Segment IV, for companies with a workforce of between 50 and 99 employees, and Segment V, for those with between 100 and 249 employees.
Kit Digital for companies with up to 250 employees
Among the improvements introduced, the maximum grant for companies with up to three employees has been increased from €2,000 to €3,000. In addition, micro-businesses that have already received funds have the opportunity to increase them up to the new limit.
The ministerial order also expands the digitalisation solutions eligible for support, adapting them to the specific needs of medium-sized companies. These solutions include services such as managed cybersecurity, AI-powered customer management, business intelligence and AI-powered process management.
In line with these updates, the catalogue of options for companies with up to three employees now includes the possibility of funding a service called “secure workstation”. This service is designed to boost task automation and efficient data management.
The Kit Digital programme has been recognised as one of the most successful pillars of the Recovery Plan. By February, it had allocated more than €1.3 billion in funding, according to the Minister for the Economy, Carlos Cuerpo.
The programme, managed by Red.es, will fund the hiring of digital transformation consultancy services with amounts of up to:
- €12,000 for companies with 10 to 49 employees
- €18,000 for those with 50 to 99 employees
- €24,000 for companies with between 100 and 249 employees.
In addition, the maximum grant for companies with up to three employees has been increased from €2,000 to €3,000.
